| 13 Dec, Sat 8:00AM | Blue Mountain Creek and Track | ||||
| Grade:5/6 | Length | 13km | 500m | Southern Sydney Branch | |
| Paul L. | |||||
![]() This walk came from having walked to the end of two tracks at the end of fire trails, then looking at a map and seeing how close they are with a creek in between. Blue Mountain Creek is joined by following Kent Street fire trail to its end then following the spur down to the confluence of Blue Mountain Creek with the creek from Empire Pass Track. Continuing down the creek with multiple crossing, and wet feet, to the confluence with a creek from Amphitheatre Falls. Explore the canyon and unnamed falls. Exit the creek valley by a series of passes through the sandstone cliff line and up the spur to the end of Blue Mountain track. Track joins North Lawson fire trail and then walk back to Lawson via Empire Pass track. Blue Mountain Creek is lined with lush rain forest and ferns and is seldom visited. No track through this section. Creek crossings, cliff edges.Location: Blue Mountains National Park Limit: 12. View |

| Grade:5/6 | Length | 10km | 450m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() ![]() ![]() (Postponed) Morong creek with its series of spectacular falls and cascades is one of the gems of the Kanangra Boyd national park and on this walk we will follow its downward path as its plummets down to the picturesque Kowmung River. On the way we will savour its beauty, go for a swim and do the same when we reach the river at the bottom. This is really wild country and with its pink and grey granite boulders, the Morong creek is truly an amazing place for those with an adventurous spirit. For participating hikers, I'd advise to stay in Oberon the night before as the drive to the start of the walk is much shorter. rock scrambling and offtrackLocation: Kanangra-Boyd NP Map: Shooters Hill 88302S Limit: 12. | 7 Feb, Sat 8:00AM | Rocky creek canyon | ||||
| Grade:5/6 | Length | 6km | 250m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() ![]() Rocky creek canyon is the classic canyon and is regarded as an entry level wet canyon as it does not have any abseils but does have several short swims with the longest being about 30 metres. The scenery in this canyon is unparalleled as its sculptured walls are regarded as the best you'll find anywhere. On this trip I plan to do the full length and climb up the exit track which means we won't have to double back and climb up the cascades. Participants should have the following gear, helmet, wetsuit, drybag, PFD if you are not a proficient swimmer. I have rated this a 5 because there are some tricky scrambles down cascades to negotiate and a rocky climb out at the end. rock scrambling and slippery conditionsLocation: Wollemi NP Map: Rock Hill 89312N Limit: 12.
