Activities: Memorabilia display (bring your own to display), bushwalks, photographic amble, paddling along the Lane Cove River, Dragons of Sydney Citizen Science data collection survey (limit of 15), sausage sizzle (bring own cutlery, plates, mugs, drinks and salads/desserts to share). It’s a gentle, meandering river with tree-clad banks, impressive sandstone rock formations and a fascinating history. We’ll even pass Fairyland and learn about Australia’s most intriguing murder mystery! Explore the river from the weir at Fullers Bridge to Sugarloaf Reserve, near the harbour. This paddle marks the 60th anniversary of NSW National Parks Association and is being organised by NPA member and Prudence Tucker award winner Tony Carr. You’ll be back in time to join the lunch celebrations. PFD's compulsory.

Join us in a search for Dragons - how many can you spot? Have a go using our survey equipment to see how we study Dragons. What kind of habitat do they like to use? Have fun learning about Dragons at this relaxed, all-ages event with lots of fun activities for children. In case of poor weather conditions, we may have to cancel the event. You will be informed of this decision as soon as possible. If there is light rain, the event will still go ahead. View

  • Record demographics and locations of Dragons spotted along the walk
  • Record Flight Initiation Distance and Flight Distance of each Dragon we see
  • Measure ground temperature and canopy cover
  • Note local flora that forms Dragon habitat
  • Collect rubbish in an effort to improve habitat condition
