| 7 Feb, Sat 8:00AM | Rocky creek canyon | ||||
| Grade:5/6 | Length | 6km | 250m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() ![]() (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Rocky creek canyon is the classic canyon and is regarded as an entry level wet canyon as it does not have any abseils but does have several short swims with the longest being about 30 metres. The scenery in this canyon is unparalleled as its sculptured walls are regarded as the best you'll find anywhere. On this trip I plan to do the full length and climb up the exit track which means we won't have to double back and climb up the cascades. Participants should have the following gear, helmet, wetsuit, drybag, PFD if you are not a proficient swimmer. I have rated this a 5 because there are some tricky scrambles down cascades to negotiate and a rocky climb out at the end. rock scrambling and slippery conditionsLocation: Wollemi NP Map: Rock Hill 89312N Limit: 12. | 14 Feb, Sat 8:00AM | Corkscrew Canyon~Upper Bowen creek south side
| Grade:4/6 | Length | 6km | 150m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() ![]() ![]() (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Corkscrew canyon is in the upper section of South Bowen creek drainage system and is a relatively easyish canyon to do as it does not involved any abseils or long swims but rewards the curious hiker with stunning constricted passages, sculptured clifflines, gorgeous cascades and pools and the chance to see an area not all that often visited. Helmet, wetsuit, drybag and a PFD required for those who aren't competent swimmers. rock scrambling and offtrackLocation: Wollemi NP Map: Mt Wilson Limit: 12. View |

| 21 Feb, Sat 8:00AM | Morong creek falls~Morong creek~Kowmung river and return | ||||
| Grade:4/6 | Length | 10km | 450m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() Morong creek with its series of spectacular cascades and falls is one of the gems of the Kanangra Boyd National Park and on this walk we will follow its downward path as it plummets down to the Kowmung river. If its going to be a hot day we may not go all the way down to the Kowmung river but swim in the many pools created by the creek. As this is a reasonable drive from Sydney, participating hikers may prefer to stay in Oberon the night before. rock scramblingLocation: kanangra boyd national park Map: Shooters Hill 88302S Limit: 12. | 21 Mar, Sat 8:00AM | Tahmoor gorge and Mermaid Pool circuit
| Grade:3/6 | Length | 10km | 200m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() Mermaids pool and Tahmoor gorge is a delightful circuit walk that takes you past numerous cascades and swimming holes where you can escape the heat of late Summer. On the last two occasions I did this walk it rained so we couldn't complete the entire walk through the most spectacular part of the gorge. Lets hope this time we have good weather! rock hoppingLocation: Mermaids Pool and Tahmoor Gorge Map: BARGO 9029-3-N Limit: 20. View |

| 3 Apr, Fri 8:00AM | Broad Swamp to Birds Rock walking track | ||||
| Grade:3/6 | Length | 18km | 200m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() The Broad Swamp to Birds Rock walking track is part of the 30kms plus Gardens of Stone great walk and is the last section of this track to be finished so of course I am keen to experience it. The track passes through various vegetation types and includes some spectacular viewpoints along the way including a show stopper lookout into Carne creek. This walk is all on tracks but I may go offtrack for a short distance to climb the odd pagoda which would be optional of course. Location: Gardens of Stone SCA Map: Cullen Bullen 89313N Limit: 20. | 4 Apr, Sat 8:00AM | Tramway trail~The Towers~Blacks Corner and return
| Grade:4/6 | Length | 15km | 300m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() A walk with history and lots of pagodas and stunning views! We start our hike along the Tramway trail, passing various old miners dwellings now being overtaken by nature and head west until the trail ends and we then follow the ridge along to Blacks Corner. Sounds deceptively simple but along the way we will encounter more pagodas and slots than you can imagine as well as some almost parkland sections of grassy lomandra until we reach our objective, Blacks Corner. A walk for those who want to leave the Easter crowds behind and explore a location rarely visited. rock scrambling and offtrack walkingLocation: Mugii Murum-ban SCA Map: Glen Alice 89314N Limit: 12. | 5 Apr, Sun 8:00AM | Wheeny Gap and waterfalls
| Grade:4/6 | Length | 5km | 380m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() ![]() What this walk lacks in distance it more than makes up for in terms of variety and pure enjoyment as there is much to see and savour in this not often visited part of Wollemi national park. Along the way you'll encounter some of the best and largest swimming holes you could hope to find, gorgeous waterfalls and cascades and stands of towering trees in a rainforest environment. Add to these features, some extraordinary tafoni enriched sandstone caves, rock wells to play in and a hellva lot more. All in all, an adventurers playground par excellence! rock scrambling and offtrack walkingLocation: Wollemi NP Map: Mountain Lagoon 90313S Limit: 12. View |
