Usual track hazards and possibly the weather.

If you want to escape the maddening crowd and avoid a long drive to examine an area of outstanding natural beauty, then this is a walk for you! offtrack and rock scrambling

South Africa safari - 27th June - 18th July 2026 

Private safari for NPA members and guests, visiting:

A select group of 12 fellow bushwalkers, travelling with an expert guide staying in eco hotels, lodges and permanent camps expecting to see all the "Big 5" animals in their natural habitat plus many other birds, mammals and reptiles. This tour is being professionally run by Intrepid Travel for us.  Tour starts and finishes in Johannesburg, direct flights from Sydney with Qantas or many other options. Rising way above the surrounding farmland and completely isolated from any other bushland,the Evans crwon nature reserve is a special and rare place!Granite tors dominate the landscape and at this time of the year there are masses of wattle in bloom and you might even encounter the odd patch of snow!In any case i plan to explore as much as possible on the day amongst all the nooks and crannies of this wonderful location. rock scrambling

Although Ku-Ring Gai chase national park maybe familiar to you ,on this walk i plan to visit a couple of offtrack sections that most will not have been to before.So you can expect about 70% on tracks and the rest offtrack.At this time of the year there will be plenty of wildlfowers about so thats an added bonus. rock scrambling/offtrack

In the Blue mountains are a myriad of waterfalls that are regularly visited by vast numbers of people but hidden away are also plenty of falls that deserve investigation and a visit! One of these is the stunning Edenderry falls on the upper reaches of Govetts creek and thats where i plan to go on this trip. Expect some rock scrambling in parts! rock scrambling

This walk is the longest completed section (so far) of the new grand walking tour of the Gardens of Stone SCA, a 40 km trail with numerous points of interest and many planned campsites. Spring is in the air so I think well see lots of wildflowers and the views are certain to be stunning.
