 Hecates Cauldron and Tara Slot. Find out why Ben Bullen State Forest must be protected for future generations. This walk will take us to a couple of unique and stunningly beautiful parts of the Forest - Hecates Cauldron and Tara Slot. Park the vehicles near spot height 1051, GR 302 171 on the branch road off the Bicentennial National Trail. Follow the Great Dividing Range north to Mount McLean and Hecates Cauldron. From here, descend into the headwaters of Baal Bone Creek, then follow a ridge west south west and south, before climbing back up onto the Great Dividing Range and Tara Slot. From here, re-connect with the vehicles. Unbelievable views, rock formations and pagodas. Scrambling and exposure. Map: Ben Bullen, Cullen Bullen

Nothing will happen in a hurry as we wander through a gully which is usually thick with terrestrial orchids at this time of year - and we will enter the haunt of the Powerful Owl. There is a very pleasant spot to camp if you feel like making this an overnight. Narrow track beside deep water. Mosquitoes. Limit: 16. Map: Campbelltown
